Have you ever been confronted with a situation that seemed impossible? That just looking at what you were facing intimidated or even scared you? I am sure all of us have at one point, and it is something that can be very daunting.
Your reaction and attitude to these situations, speaks volumes about who you are as a person and what you believe. If you let these situations dictate how you live your life, I can promise you, you are missing the point of this life. Life is not meant to be lived in fear. We are meant to take charge of this life and live it the fullest!
Let me give you an example of someone, who in the worlds eyes, would have never been the choice to conquer the problem they faced. That person is David. The David I am talking about, is the one who was just a boy and a shepherd for his father Jesse. This David was the David that existed ever before King David did. The courage and strength he showed in his youth when it didn’t matter as much, helped propel him to make some bold claims about this life when it did.
Let me explain, David “the shepherd” watched his fathers sheep day in and day out. Often there would be predators who would look to steal the sheep. David would chase them down and get his father’s possession back by force if necessary. When the army of Israel under King Saul were facing the largest threat they had ever faced, the Philistines, the army would run in fear. As Goliath, the champion of the Philistines, taunted Israel and mocked God, the Israelites did nothing in response.
One day, David, a boy maybe in his teens, was in the army’s camp visiting his brothers who were soldiers. He heard the things Goliath was saying about Israel and HIS God and it angered him. He approached King Saul and requested that he go out and face Goliath. After some pleading, Saul agreed and David went out to meet the problem head on.
I don’t want you to miss what happens next and the attitude David portrayed when confronting the largest problem Israel had faced in a long time:
41 Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, 42 sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. 43 “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. 44 “Come over here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!” Goliath yelled.45 David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!” 48 As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground. 50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head. – I Samuel 17
The difference behind David and the rest of Israel, he knew who was on his side. He was purposeful in his talk to his problem. He knew God had delivered them, but no one had claimed it. Often the problems we face, God has already given us victory over – He is just waiting for us tell the problem we have already won. Like I said, it’s all about attitude and when you realize our God is fighting for us and has delivered us, there is nothing that can stand in our way.
Be bold, proclaim aloud what God has done for you and promised you! Don’t be timid and don’t hide. God is before you fighting your battles for you! Don’t give up, don’t surrender.
On a similar note, I would like you to pray and have faith for a friend of my wife and I’s. He is in the hospital with an infection in his leg and the Doctors of this world are being very negative about the situation. Yesterday it was he could lose his leg and today it was they knew of a lady with the same infection that spread and she died. But they don’t know what our God can do or who He is! I would ask for you to boldly proclaim His power in the situation and believe that God will be known in the midst of this large problem facing our friends. I want to thank you for that and I look forward to reporting in the future of God’s amazing victory! I love each and every one of you!
